Larry Tamblyn

Larry Tamblyn
From garage rock to children’s music to lavish orchestrations, Larry Tamblyn is an accomplished composer/arranger/performer in most every genre of music. Larry is the founding member and leader of the Standells (considered by many to be the godfathers of punk/garage rock), the group who recorded the 60’s top ten hit “Dirty Water”. All of the original Standells were reunited in 2004 to perform at Game 2 of the World Series in Boston, and have returned there several times since, including Game 1 of the 2007 American League playoffs when they astounded the 50,000 baseball fans with an a cappella performance of the National Anthem, specially arranged by Larry. To learn more about the Standells, read their biography “The Standells and the Improbable Red Sox Victory Anthem”, currently available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Target, and other retail outlets. While not the writer of the Standells biggest hit, Larry penned and arranged numerous songs featured in the Standells record albums and in several motion pictures and TV shows. Post-Standells, Larry scored the music for a series of Science Fiction audio productions, entitled AudiSee. He also ventured into children’s music. Many “boomers” may recall listening to the charming record album “Lolliwinks” (http://childrensrecordsandmore.blogspot.com/2008/05/lolliwinks.html), and watching the animated characters sing their songs on national TV. Larry wrote most all of the songs and performed them in the various character’s voices. He also created the music score for the national TV commercial. Tamblyn utilized all of the same talents in the Superscope Tele-Story audio book production of “Nimble Numbers”. In addition, he created much of the music score for Tele-Story’s list of over 50 productions. http://www.superscope-marantzpro.com/company/about/superscope.shtml Most recently, Larry composed and performed the theme music for Medical Economics, an audio news magazine distributed by Audio Digest. Although he has written and arranged music for full orchestra, Larry’s specialty is in being a self-contained orchestra. All of the music represented here was composed, arranged and performed solely by Tamblyn utilizing synthesizers and music samples. Many can’t tell the difference. You be the judge!
