UP and COMING: Kevin Kinsella, founder, and lead vocalist for John Browns Body, will be teaming up this fall with Baltimore-based reggae band Jah Works for a musical collaboration that will hit the stage this November and December for a string of performances in the Mid-Atlantic region as well as NY state. Kevin, who has recently taken a hiatus from John Browns Body, will be performing many classic JBB songs, as well as a new crop of material not yet released. Plans for 2007 include recording the first release from this new group, as well as more extensive touring both stateside and abroad. Kevin Kinsella has been a staple in the Ithaca music scene for well over ten years. Formerly front man for the now defunct Tribulations, he sings and writes for the acclaimed roots reggae group John Brown's Body. Whether performing with nothing but his own voice and an acoustic guitar, or leading the uplifting juggernaut that is John Brown's Body, Kevin's proclaimed musical goal is creating what he calls "thanks and praise" music that will instill positive vibes in all who listen. Kevin has released two solo albums to date: I-TOWN REVIVAL and FIRESTICK (with Ti Ti Chickapea), with a third one currently in the works. Both solo albums do an amazing justice to Kevin's musically altruistic goal of disseminating positivity and joy. I-TOWN REVIVAL features songs of hope, love and redemption led by Kevin's vocal and acoustic guitar. On FIRESTICK, which captures the vibe of a live recording, Kevin is joined by world renowned cellist Hank Roberts, Eric Aceto and Richie Stearns of Ti Ti Chickapea. In 2006, Kevin found himself in the role of producer, working on the first full-length recording SWEET END from the female harmony trio, Five2. Recruiting some of the best musicians Ithaca has to offer, Kevin realized a new mission of helping to shape another group's sound - and with moving results. Not only does Kevin tirelessly promote his message through his many musical projects, he is also one of the founders of I-Town Records, the Ithaca-based cooperative record label that consistently produces some of the most wonderful artists that Central New York has to offer.
