Gaili Schoen
Born with perfect pitch and the ability to play by ear, composer/songwriter Gaili Schoen has been studying music since age three. After a childhood of classical training, she fell in love with jazz playing in bands ranging from vintage (1920s and 30s) to big band styles. In the mid-80s she switched gears, leading the rock band Doubting Thomas to fame in London with her hit song Make the First Move. Upon returning to America, Gaili became passionate about composing music to picture. She studied film scoring and ethnic music styles at UCLA, and received additional guidance and experience from her mentors, composers Rachel Portman and Hummie Mann. Gaili’s songs and scores have been featured in a dozen feature films, and have been covered by various jazz, pop and country artists.
